Another Courageous Wingnut Banning

What did you say?
February 24th, 2006 at 10:46 pm
yes, do tell!
February 24th, 2006 at 10:52 pm
Trolling, I’m afraid. One thread - not even nasty!

I guess they’ll ban Buckley next…
February 24th, 2006 at 11:11 pm
LA–
He’s remarkably thin-skinned, for someone who is so eager to stereotype his critics and assign positions to them. I guess making straw men is fun, until someone knocks down an effigy of Goldstein.
February 24th, 2006 at 11:46 pm
Goldstein is one of the biggest assholes in the United States. Being banned from his blog is something of which you can be proud.
February 24th, 2006 at 11:47 pm
he-he
February 25th, 2006 at 12:31 am
He sets a fine example for Pajamas Media. I hope that they are proud of having him involved.
February 25th, 2006 at 4:20 am
What LA said, which he is careful not to reveal, is that if I can find one instance where I didn’t crucify a right winger who took an anti-war stance, he’d stop making ludicrous caricatures of me.
I pointed out that he was posting his challenge in just such a thread, three times noting that I said of Mr Buckley’s argument:
As I patiently explained to LA, this is not what we biggest assholes in the US would term, as LA put it, a “crucifixion”; instead, it is a disagreement on policy. Further, I never challenged Buckley’s conservatism.
So what we have is LA setting out to get banned and succeeding for being a world class cock. And you idiots, without even bothering to check things for yourself, eagerly jump in and pile on.
Congrats! The Reality-based community strikes again!
Tools.

Actually I did check Goldstein and that was before LA even provided a link (one of those little blue clicky things that our resident troll doesn’t like.) Still look at the bright side like most of the far-right loolahs you get your kicks by publicly masturbating your inferiority and persecution complexes. All that LA and the others here have done is to give you another chance to engage in your favourite form of onanism.
Be grateful.
February 25th, 2006 at 5:59 am
Is Goldstein still doing heroin?
February 25th, 2006 at 6:18 am
And how does Goldstein know about LA’s world-class cock?
February 25th, 2006 at 6:31 am
Every since Jimmy/Jeff they’ve added that to their list of inferiority complexes sardonicus.

poor goldstein
sitting indian-style in a straitjacket
on the floor of a padded cell
angrily pecking a keyboard

Asked on Protein Wisdom:
February 25th, 2006 at 12:18 pm
dana, i saw your comment. i was typing my own when yours appeared.
but i think this thread holds the answer to your question. mr. goldstein himself commented here, and accused LA of “setting out to get banned and succeeding for being a world class cock.”
what a class act
February 25th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
Well, we all get pissed off occasionally; remember LA’s banning, quickly rescinded, of Corrie?
I work in an industry in which a thick skin is required, and I’ve had one for decades. I’d say that bloging also requires one: you are putting your thoughts out there, and, at least in the case of blogs that have reader comments sections, you are setting yourself up for whatever slings and arrows of outragous fortune might come your way, whether deserved or otherwise. How many bloggers came into this interesting hobby with thickened epidermi already in place?
February 25th, 2006 at 12:35 pm
FYI dana, goldstein has responded to your comment over at his site.
February 25th, 2006 at 12:43 pm
Yeah, just found it:
Well, as I noted in the Corrie kerfuffle, these sites are private property, and the site owner can ban anyone he so chooses. I also think that Mr Goldstein is making a mistake, as I thought LA made a mistake when he banned Corrie.
The part of Mr Goldstein’s response that disappointed me the most was “LA is not my friend.” I’ve never actually met a single soul who has commented on my site, or with whom I have debated on other sites. That I disagree with LA and Joe and Sirkowski doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t be welcome in my house if they ever showed up at the front door — though it would be nice if they called ahead of time!
There are enough people out there who really do hate others that we don’t need to let political disagreements on semi-anonymous blogs turn into personal hatred.

Shorter Jeff Goldstein when questioned about LA’s banning: WAAAAAAAGH!
February 25th, 2006 at 12:51 pm
Dana–
The Corrie banning was pretty entertaining. He didn’t check the site for 5 days, so he’d been unbanned by the time he realized he’d been banned. Imagine checking in with a blog and thinking, “Huh. While I was away, I got banned. But now I’m unbanned. Things move pretty fast on these internets.”
Also, LA didn’t go over to Corrie’s blog to tell Corrie’s readers that he banned Corrie for trolling and that they were all a bunch of idiots. That was the maneuver that made me think of a guy pecking a keyboard with his nose.
February 25th, 2006 at 1:13 pm
Jeff’s blog is always entertaining. If you bring some real juice to the table you won’t be banned. Just don’t be redundant. Or pedantic.
February 25th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
It is true what Jeff G. said about me being banned from COMMENTING only - and not from visiting the site as a whole. I was incorrect in stating that. Here’s why:
I discovered that I was banned when trying to submit a comment. Instead of the comment submitting I was pushed to a screen that said that I had been banned, with no navigation elsewhere. Hitting BACK from that screen simply redirected me to that screen. This created the impression that I was being forced to see/visit only the page that says that I have been banned. I have since discovered that this is not really the case. While I have indeed been banned from commenting, I am apparently more than welcome to read as much of JG’s bullshit as I want. Lucky me!
This is the same “arrangement” I received from Captain Queeg.
I find it humorous that JG is somehow proving that he’s really not so bad by virture of the fact that he ONLY banned me from commenting, not from wallowing in his wingnut prose.
February 25th, 2006 at 1:37 pm
Dana is welcome in my home anytime as well.
February 25th, 2006 at 1:38 pm
nikkolai:
Did you really think I was so far off base in what I said in comments there?
February 25th, 2006 at 1:39 pm
Also…
As predicted, one of Goldilocks’ minions dropped me an email saying that I was an anti-Semite.
Who made that prediction? I owe whoever predicted that a drink.

Sure he could.

I swear, I’m going to show up at Dana’s house and call as I’m walking down the driveway — just because of all this emphasis on CALLING FIRST!.
February 25th, 2006 at 2:23 pm
I’m not sure that he could ban you from reading his site; he has an open URL.
LaShawn Barber actually banned me from visiting her site completely. She did it by adding my ip address to a blocking section of her site’s .htaccess file.
February 25th, 2006 at 3:26 pm
OK, Joe, but that means you gotta help do the dishes.
February 25th, 2006 at 4:19 pm
watch what you wish for, dana. you live around jim thorpe, right? i actually go there for work now and then. it’s easy to say “sure, drop by anytime” to these other folks who don’t live in pennsylvania, but i could probably do it sometime
February 25th, 2006 at 5:45 pm
Yeah, I live in Jim Thorpe.
February 25th, 2006 at 8:18 pm
I’m taking the family to see Amish Country this summer.
Are you Amish, Dana?
February 25th, 2006 at 10:05 pm
hey LA, are you passing through philly, or thereabouts?
dana, i was in the lovely jim thorpe courthouse about 2 months ago for an oral argument. i’m more of a city person, but it really is a nice town. i have a client that i do a fair amount of work for that is vaguely in that direction (they’re really based in allentown, but they cover a fair slice of East-Central PA, including carbon county)
February 25th, 2006 at 10:13 pm
We’re still in the planning stages of this summer’s family vacation, Uz. I’ll know better in a month or so whether or not the extended-LA clan will be descending upon you and your fair city.
February 26th, 2006 at 8:14 am
LA asks:
Dang, you’ve caught me! I’ve got my daughters out in the yard, turning the wheel that provides the heathen electricity to run this fould and sinful computer.
Amish country is a bit southwest of where I live.
February 26th, 2006 at 8:21 am
Napanee Indiana-Amish country and home to some of the best apple struddle anywhere. There’s nothing quite like a slow buckboard ride on a Spring afternoon after a full Amish meal to lull your spirit to peace and rest for awhile…
February 26th, 2006 at 3:02 pm
hey, thanks for showing me that thread, LA. i’ve been having loads of fun over there
February 26th, 2006 at 7:17 pm
I’ve been following you’re performance over there, up. Valiant effort.
February 26th, 2006 at 7:36 pm
Tilting at wind mills.
Fun I suppose, but hardly worth the effort considering the net effect..
February 26th, 2006 at 10:00 pm
for once, i completely agree with you.
i’m really just doing it for the fun of it. but unfortunately, i gotta work tomorrow. the fun times are almost over
February 26th, 2006 at 10:34 pm
You’re doing a fantastic job over there, Uz. I wish I hadn’t have been banned there - I’m dying to chime in.
