Malkin announces that she’s going to Baghdad
December 14th, 2006 by LAMalkin is so concerned about the Associated Press’ efforts to make things look “really bad” in Iraq when things are really actually going really well, that she has accepted Eason Jordan’s invitation to send her to Iraq.
Now I know and you know that Michelle has no intention of going to Iraq. She’s stuck her neck out a bit on this one, however. What excuse will she use to keep herself from going?
Will she claim that Eason Jordan refused to pay? Will she describe a murky Islamofascist/moonbat plot that will force her to stay at home? Will she claim that the Iraqi government won’t give her a visa? Will she, like Bill O’Reilly, claim to discover that she’s on an al-Qaeda hitlist?
At least we know that Baghdad isn’t as dangerous as Paris. She’s got that going for her.
Post your predictions here.
[There is a wingnut discussion about this in place at Confederate Yankee (a rare wingnut who allows comments). I expect Eason Jordan to blog about it here.]
Update:
Look, wingnuts… This is a woman who has explicitly referred to the old pie-in-the-face trick as both “assault” and “violence.” She has a security detail that accompanies her to book signings and speaking appearances in order to keep pie-throwers away.
If somebody really wants to nail you with a pie in Iraq, it’s going to take more than her standard bodyguard to prevent them from doing so.

I predict: She’ll send her husband, Jesse, instead. He’ll get blown up 15 microseconds after leaving the Green Zone. Her blog will fall strangely silent.
December 14th, 2006 at 10:53 am
she probably won’t go,.but if she does, i bet she spends all her time in the “safety” of the green zone, just like she accuses those MSM reporters of doing.
December 14th, 2006 at 10:55 am
Let me get the gist of this “controversy” straight. Six people weren’t really burned alive in Baghdad, so it is safe to walk the streets there? This is what they’ve been reduced to arguing?
December 14th, 2006 at 10:57 am
Yep, Malkin is arguying bodycount. Reminds me of Mel Gibson on a different subject.
December 14th, 2006 at 10:57 am
Yes.
I think she’s going to claim that Eason Jordan refuses to “properly provide for her security.” There are so many easy cop-outs with this one.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:01 am
She has to stay to make anchor babies! Can’t leave now!
P.S. Confederate Wankee does indeed allow comments. Expect to be blacklisted if you besmirch his hero Glenn Reynolds, however.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:04 am
My prediction: The Jonah Manuever.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:06 am
John, nobody thinks that didn’t happen anymore. They just decided that what Centcom said (despite their obvious reasons to lie) invalidates what half a dozen other witness said.
To right wingers, you need at least 100 muslims to overcome the word of one whiteman. Kind of like the the difference between the way the media treats Israeli spokespeople and Palestinian ones. To too many Americans, white people count above other poeple.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:07 am
I expect she’ll go, and emerge with her agenda intact. Even if the worst should occur, and she finds herself injured in one of the daily acts of violence that plague Baghdad, I’m sure she’ll find a way to blame the liberal media (”they told Al Qaeda I was coming so they could set up a hit”). They will not make any significant attempt to find Jamil Hussein (”we searched the ENTIRE hotel bar”), and she will return home still claiming that it was all a hoax and everyone who works at the AP and all of their close relatives should be hanged for treason.
I’ll lay down 3:1 odds against her leaving the Green Zone, and 30:1 against her leaving it without military escort.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:07 am
Hahha. The wingnut locked the comments thread. And of course he faults us…
December 14th, 2006 at 11:13 am
what the hell? you get atriosed and now you’re too good for my comments?
seriously, i can’t post comments here. why?
December 14th, 2006 at 11:19 am
She’ll go. She’ll just never leave the Green Zone without a heavy military escort.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:24 am
Up, it’s the darn spam filter, it’s been grabbing some non-spam comments..sorry about that…
~
December 14th, 2006 at 11:24 am
If it’s such a big deal, then why doesn’t the media come right out and either:
a) Admit that Jamil Hussein is a fake
or
b) Prove he exists
I don’t care one way or the other. I’d just like to see someone take some responsiblity for the fiasco. If the “wingnuts” are just spouting false drivel, then I’d like to see this Jamil Hussein.
And about Malkin actually going… She kinda has to now. There will be too many repercussions if she backs out now. In my opinion anyway.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:25 am
I predict that she will abducted and forced to live in an internment camp for Americans captured in Iraq. I also predict she won’t learn a thing from such an experience.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:27 am
I think we have our answer in her update…
Well, darn it all.
And she was totally about to sign in to Orbitz, too.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:33 am
Best comment from Confederate Yankee?
William T. Quick:
Michael Moore: wingnut silver bullet.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:35 am
I think she’ll chicken out. The closer the day comes the more she’ll probably start rethinking her plans and come up with some kind of excuse. That is my prediction.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:37 am
Michael Moore’s actually been to Iraq. That’s what makes it even more silly.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:38 am
If Milky goes…..Could the next Challenge be for Fox news to Broadcast live from the Streets of of Baghdad,
December 14th, 2006 at 11:42 am
Bluffs will be called
he question is whose? It seems that Eason Jordan of (ex)CNN fame has a new venture called Iraqslogger as part of which he intends to track down the AP’s man of mystery. He has publically invited Michelle Malkin to come along and she has accepted. For…
December 14th, 2006 at 11:42 am
Maybe Jesse will go. God forbid a photographer get in his way, though.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:43 am
That skank will figure out a way to weasel out of it. If she actually gets her cowardly ass to Baghdad, she will be safely staying in the Green Zone.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:44 am
I’ll lay down 3:1 odds against her leaving the Green Zone, and 30:1 against her leaving it without military escort.
30:1? There’s a better chance that she’ll cure cancer while she’s there.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:44 am
hehe
I don’t think that Michael Moore is foolish enough to declare that he wants to go to Baghdad.
I consider myself to be a adventurer and I’ve seen and experienced a great deal in this world beyond my rather mundane, waspy, exurban and white collar life…
*I* sure as hell don’t want to be anywhere near Baghdad.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:45 am
I think it’s the civil and criminal law that explicitly defines the “old pie-in-the-face trick” as both “assault” and “violence,” not Malkin.
The issue is not the lack of six people being burned to death in Baghdad as proof there’s no voilence, it’s that the non-event was reported across the globe because AP has been penetrated by propagandists with a violent, sectarian agenda and AP has shown little interest in correcting that problem.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:49 am
The aurguement is that AP has decided that telling lies in its articles is ok. Why is that so hard for a liberal to understand? We are simply asking for “oversight” of the media. They have proven it is required and should be held accountable for the lies. You’ve asked the same of Bush, but don’t ask this of the “number one source of news”?
December 14th, 2006 at 11:50 am
Zig05 - I think that is exactly what is going to happen.
It’s alot of bluster now… Yon and Fumento do it… Why can’t she?
If she doesn’t blame Eason Jordan’s failure to provide proper security for her, I can imagine what it will feel like when she starts planning her own security.
The $35,000 security escort from the Baghdad airport to the Green Zone is undoubtedly hyperbole, but it is certain to be a great deal of money. If it’s not $35k, it might be $5k. Will she be willing to pay $5k for a cab ride? Both ways? The fun starts there…
This is the woman who constantly attacks public education and celebrates home schooling yet reportedly sends her own kids to public school because she doesn’t want to spend the time and money it would take to send her kids to private school or to home school them.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:55 am
It appears that abusive and racist posters from this site forced the people on the blog you listed to lock the thread. So much for liberal “reasonable” debate.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:56 am
The answer to the Jamail Hussein question is a simple one:
There is someone in the police who is not authorized to speak with the press with whom an AP stringer has a relationship. This person does not want to use his own name for multiple obvious reasons. The name he and the AP stringer have chosen for him is Jamail Hussein.
What you wingnuts don’t understand is that the situation in Baghdad is so horrifically dangerous that neither he nor the stringer are ever going to come forward with the real name. It’s never going to happen and in a country that has devolved into hell-on-earth there is no chance whatsoever of either the stringer or “Hussein” being compelled to spill the beans.
That’s the way it is. Get over it.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:56 am
That’s what he says, sonofdy. I personally saw none of it.
I don’t think he wants his illusion of Queen Malkin shattered.
December 14th, 2006 at 11:59 am
I love the wingnut defense of the ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY CREAM PIE laws.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:00 pm
Throwing a pie in the face is assault. If is also a direct attempt to suppress speech.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:03 pm
LA says Malkin is a “woman who constantly attacks public education and celebrates home schooling yet reportedly sends her own kids to public school because she doesn’t want to spend the time and money it would take to send her kids to private school or to home school them.”
Um, unlike Democrat politicians like Clinton who send their kids to private school?
Malkin attacks the quality of public education and thinks ending the govenment monopoly on the provision of public education would increase quality through competition, especially in less affluent school districts.
From AP reportage to school choice, why not make your opposing point in a debate and not simply take ad hominem shots while mischaracterizing your opponet’s stance?
December 14th, 2006 at 12:07 pm
i hear they are running out of cream pie in iraq, so michelle “malkin” maglalang may be safe….
December 14th, 2006 at 12:10 pm
She’ll go. She’ll do anything to inflate her oversized ego.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:13 pm
I think Michelle should be thanked for providing her service to the country. Al Franken is in Iraq right now entertaining the troops, and in a few weeks, Malkin will be there too, also entertaining the troops.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:14 pm
Queef!
December 14th, 2006 at 12:25 pm
1. This is a pathetic stunt by Jordan to try to win support from right-wingers who threw him off the bus years ago.
2. Malkin should have declined the trip since, as she notes on her blog, Jordan mistakenly identified her as leading the charge against AP when it was actually Curt at Flopping Aces. (There’s a possible excuse she can use to decide not to go in the end.)
3. Doesn’t Jordan have anyone at AP on his Rolodex that he could contact to confirm or deny the existence of Jamil Hussein? Instead he’s going to spend thousands of dollars to do it? What a farce. Isn’t there anything *more important* going on Iraq that he could investigate? Like all of those tortured, executed bodies that keep showing up every day?
4. He claimed his site would be ‘unbiased’. So much for that.
5. Will Malkin even get into Iraq? With all of the vile things she’s written about Muslims, you’d think she’d be pegged as a security threat.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:25 pm
Izit cuz iz black?
December 14th, 2006 at 12:26 pm
Bringing her kids into it is such a cheap shot.
Michelle probably weights 100 lbs. She regularly receives death wishes, threats and really vile pornographic comments from nuts only slightly more unhinged than the ones commenting here (see comment #1 for example or the first one by Frederick). Her home address has been posted on the web. Given that, it’s not crazy for her to have security when she travels.
Frankly, I think she’s probably used to the idea that some politically indoctrinated nut might attack her at any moment. Iraq won’t phase her a bit.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
Mishu wingnutter to LA moonbat. Using a fake name as a source is against journalism ethics 101. If they can’t get the guy to go on record, then they would have site him as a unamed source. One of the other named sources recanted his story. The NY Times, who have their own staff there, wouldn’t reprot the story. The AP first reported that four mosques burnt to the ground. Now they only report one mosque was burned and it only incurred minor damage. The story is fake but you assume it’s true because it’s “Bush’s fault”.
As far as the other moonbats who call Malkin a “skank”, did you do her? My guess is no. If she dedicated her blog to the virtues of Chompsky while giving away free blow jobs to anyone who wants one, you’d claim she’s a saint.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:31 pm
Mishu:
Journalism ethics 101 are bendable, particularly in the midst of a civil war/war zone.
Surely you understand that, do you not?
December 14th, 2006 at 12:35 pm
There’s the irony of a fake journalist doing a fake investigation on an alleged fake report.

Throwing a pie in the face is assault. If is also a direct attempt to suppress speech.
For an ultra-litigious pansy ass, and lawyers who want some media time, yes a pie in the face is assault. And if she continues to spew misinformation, I don’t see a valid reason why her attempt at speech shouldn’t be suppressed. If your speech is full of lies, what good is it to the discourse in this country? Suppress it I say!
Here’s hoping she confuses an IED with her IUD.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:40 pm
No, Jamil (whoever he is) would be an unamed source. Surely you understand , do you not? Also, the AP says they’ve been to his office and seen him in uniform. If the Sunni agents burned six people in front of a uniformed police officer, wouldn’t he be dead by now? Why would asking a stringer his fake name make him safer?
December 14th, 2006 at 12:43 pm
Her home address has been posted on the web.
Is that why she thinks its fair game to post the addresses of people she targets as ‘traitors’ and ‘enemies’ on her site?
December 14th, 2006 at 12:48 pm
Malkin and this administration are responsible for the deaths of over 500,000 innocent people in a war that was immoral and illegal.
That is more obscene than any curse word ever invented.
Remember that shot of Tony Snow on the transport flight shitting his pants? Can’t wait to see the anchor baby in a flakjacket.
December 14th, 2006 at 12:58 pm
One Question can we staple O’Liely to Malkin?
December 14th, 2006 at 1:10 pm
She claims she has to arrange her own transportation when AP renegs on deal. She flys to Istanbul, claims it’s Baghdad, visits many schools and hospitals. Finds “Baghdad” to be a very safe place full of friendly people yearning for democracy, free markets and Ann Coulter speaking tours.
December 14th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
She will bomb out, citing the acute shortage of good mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss in Baghdad
December 14th, 2006 at 1:58 pm
Why would she need security? Just to look at all the freshly painted schools and reopened hospitals?
December 14th, 2006 at 2:17 pm
She’ll go. What’s more it will be a more credible visit than those puffed up congress critters make. The military scrubs the rolls for members of the home districts/states and asks for volunteers. When they don’t get them they oreder them to attend. And even then, when they know the idiot is not liked by the rank and file (sKerry, Clintoon, etc) they are reminded that it is a chargable offense under the UCMJ to insult or make disparaging remarks to/about said critter.
Other prediction…dead head libs and racists will give her no credit regardless of outcome of the visit.
December 14th, 2006 at 2:26 pm
Soullite there are more than afew people who ot only say it didn’t happen but are seeking the truth and verification. And the fun thing is that despite your own shortcomings on honesty and openmindedness they see beyond color. In fact they look at who says what and for why.
You know…like the video of Palistinian “DEAD” who fall out of caskets during funeral parades only to get back up and into the coffins themselves….The Hamas “Ambulances” that are hit by bombs that only leave holes and rust no explosion or destruction (damn that phot/proof thingy)…Librul Professors who damage their own vehicles to claim they are being persecuted by conservatives only to be found out in investigation and punnished…and people of color who somehow they have a cadre of whites who have the sole duty of “keeping them down”.
It must be a terrible thing to have your life suck so bad as you do.

Any links to proof other than Worldnutdaily, angry white boy? Oh, that’s right. Your sort are always 1/16th Cherokee to go with their Aryan.
You noble warrior, you.
December 14th, 2006 at 2:53 pm
Dear fellow liberals,
Do not make the mistake of defending the AP simply because shitbags like Malkin are attacking it. You would be making a mistake. The AP is a crappy, piss poor excuse for a news gathering agency. If you trust them, you are fools. If this story is wrong, it wouldn’t be the first one they’ve fucked up, then refused to admit it. They have zero credibility. I gave up reading the AP a long time ago and I suggest you do the same. In the meantime, go read Major Bob’s comments at Alterman’s place. http://mediamatters.org/altercation/
Sincerely,
Ivor

As for the latter part of that remark -Nah, I’d then have to call her Debbie Schlussel.

Max, as a member of the active military service of the United States, I welcome your warrior remark.
Were you EVER one?
And did you ever catch the story of the AP photog who photoshopped extra smoke and buildings into the APs photos, or how Easton Jordan admitted he lied about Iraq and Saddam before the war in order to gain access? What about the woman who had her house destroyed 2 times in a week getting her photo taken in front of the same structures.
These folks count of idiots like you to carry their water and destroy the American will from the inside.
When you wear a uniform, call on me then fat boy.
December 14th, 2006 at 3:16 pm
Let’s also send Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Coulter and Kristol with her. Just the plane ride alone oughta be more fun than a bucket full of scorpions and more appetizing than eating aluminum foil. And no, I do not advocate sending Jonah Goldberg. He’s actually amusing, better not to waste him on this foolish adventure.
December 14th, 2006 at 3:17 pm
“Wow! I came here looking for intelligent conversation but found only invective language, racism and genuine hate.”
Ah, so any visit to Red State, Lucciane, Free Republic or Little Green Footballs would perhaps help me in my choice of a finishing school?
Please. You lowered the bar of discourse since time immortal. Now we are beating you over the head with it.
December 14th, 2006 at 3:18 pm
Don’t think she going
Update: My friend, photojournalist/milblogger extraordinaire Michael Yon, is scheduled to be in Baghdad on the 19th. He may get answers before we even get off the ground.
See someone else is going to beat her to it!
December 14th, 2006 at 3:27 pm

Will Malkin Go To Iraq?
Why would Eason Jordan invite Michelle Malkin to Iraq? Seriously, wasn’t she one of the chief goons on the “Get Eason Jordan fired from CNN” goon squad? I’m all for reaching out to political opponents when the time is right and they act in good fai…
December 14th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
Okay Ivor…you successfully complete your enlistment? Or did you get the General Under Honorable discharge for gayness or other “unsuitable for military service” mental characterizations?
December 14th, 2006 at 4:04 pm
Why haven’t any progressive, liberal bloggers gone to Iraq or been invited? Shouldn’t at least one progressive blogger go on the trip so that there is some balance as well? There have been several Conservative bloggers that have gone to Lebanon, Kurdistan, parts of Iraq during the war but no progressives. Why is that?
December 14th, 2006 at 4:07 pm
liberally bloggers have gone to iraq and lebanon independently (e.g. “back to iraq 2.0 and 3.0)
December 14th, 2006 at 4:07 pm
i meant “liberal.” doh!
December 14th, 2006 at 4:11 pm
True, but a.) that’s only ONE example and b.) none have been ‘Institutionally backed’ like so many of the Conservative blogs. It’s strikes that this really needs to be remedied. Is it because liberals are unwilling to go? (I don’t think so.) Or that we’re simply discriminated against? But someone other than Chris at B2I needs to go, especially with Eason Jordan, if for nothing else than to keep Malkin and her crew honest about what really happens while they are there.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:16 pm
Exemple of a wingnut’s argument.
“Why hasn’t any liberals told me the Earth wasn’t flat?”
December 14th, 2006 at 4:19 pm
Why isn’t she going as an enlisted person? I’m sure that Army would love to strap an 80 pound pack on her back and put an automatic weapon into her hands so she could get out there on patrol, looking for all of the “good news” that the media if neglecting to report!
December 14th, 2006 at 4:19 pm
Nevermind, Sean-Paul’s looked like a wingnut question, sorry.
But anyway, I don’t see why we should send people who are politicaly labeled to report news. If bloggers want to report, they do it on their own. Sending Malkin or Micheal Moor down there isn’t gonna convince anybody from the other side.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:21 pm
Michelle, IT’S A TRAP!
December 14th, 2006 at 4:22 pm
Sean-Paul, keeping Malkin honest?
Didn’t CNN admit to not reporting news out of Iraq in order to keep access and to ensure the safety of their reporters? Doesn’t sound like someone familiar with dealing in ONLY the truth. At best truth by degrees and propaganda.
As for not going, I believe that most of the left wing bloggers are so far left that their planes could only fly in circles, or that they would be afraid of making regular contacts with the military members and by that association find them to be real people, worthy of respect, and possibly find portions of the “misson” worth of completing.
Afterall, demanding all manner of rights here in the US for women, gays, various religious and racial minorities would run directly into conflict with the repressive regimes and intolerant views of those these same bloggers seem to elevate to near demi-god-like existance.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:26 pm
American Chap…in case you hadn’t noticed, the US Military is VOLUNTARY! It’s a novel concept that has actually strengthened the services as compared to Macnamaras’ horrible experiment in the 60’s.
We could all ask the same question of you - why haven’t you enlisted? Surely you could go over and show the loving kindess that the “Human Shields” tried those years ago, before they left because they were being abused and used.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:31 pm
Paul, isn’t the MSM full of liberals and communists already?
