Iraq: What You Can Do
March 19th, 2008 by gordo
The war has created 5 million refugees
If you really want to help the people of Iraq, there are three things you can do:
1) Give a donation to the International Committee of the Red Cross/Crescent/Crystal. The ICRC is the only organization that provides relief to Iraqis in every province in Iraq, as well as relief for refugees in Syria and Jordan. Despite a massive mobilization of resources, the ICRC effort falls painfully short, and millions of Iraqis suffer from lack of adequate food, shelter, and health care. Just click here, and select the Iraq program.
2) If you’re a US citizen, send a message to your congressman and senators, and tell them that you want American forces withdrawn as quickly as is feasible.
3) Volunteer for the Obama or Clinton campaigns, or send a donation. Both candidates promise a speedy withdrawal, while John W. McCain wants to continue the war for another 100 years.
